How does this benefit standard wastewater treatment plants – bio-fouling and chemical precipitation result in plugging of the holes of the diffuser. As the holes block, the air is being pushed through lesser holes which means the blower is doing more work. Also, air being pushed through lesser holes has higher velocity which reduces bubble contact time and overall oxygen transfer efficiency which means the blower has to provide more air to provide the same amount of oxygen to the wastewater. Due to this property, PTFE membranes maintain “like new” conditions for longer compared to standard membranes. A consultant conducted an independent study on a comparison of standard EPDM membranes with PTFE membranes. The two samples were put in operation in the Aerobic Digesters of the Front Royal WWTP in Virginia, USA. After one year in service, the diffusers were pulled out in September 2010. Here are the images from the visual inspection of the consultant.

SSI disk aerator can be installed on PVC branch pipe through quick connect saddle, Grommet connection, etc. SSI pre-installed aeration disk, rotate 1/4 turn can be installed on the quick connect saddle, this saddle is suitable for 9" and 12" aeration disk for installation.

SSI’s patented PTFE membrane barrier properties not only reduce plasticizer extraction, shrinking, and membrane hardening but also limit dynamic changes that can result from swell, such as creep.
